ELN events in 2014
ELN events held in 2014, focussed on assisting regional leaders and other stakeholders to deal with the current problems being faced by the transitioning regional economy and further impacted by intractable low educational attainment levels. The following events were held:
5 June 2014 - Learning as a driver for change
Speakers: Dr Shanti Wong and Dr Leone Wheeler
Dr Shanti Wong and Dr Leone Wheeler presented their research on Learning Communities and involved the audience in establishing strategies to assist the region to successfully transition into the new economy. Peter Blunden from Melton City Council also gave a presentation on the council's community learning plan.
14 July 2014 - Focus on Food - From gate to factory, distributor, retailer, charity and dinner table Speaker: Phil Preston
This Workshop attracted 65 participants from the Agribusiness sector, food distribution network, Councils, Covenant College TTC and others from a range of social services who together examined business constraints in the context of social issues, with the aim of identifying a better focus our efforts in the short and medium term. The goal being to create an upward spiral: better business, more employment and increased family wellbeing.
22nd Aug 2014 - Working together to address regional issues
Speaker: Peter Kenyon
The event attracted 60 participants from a diverse range of sectors who explored the concept of collective impact as a working methodology for the Geelong region.
